The pecan which is a member of the walnut family, is a large North American tree and is probably best known for its nuts. The timber is hard and can be used for furniture such as benches, chairs, stools as well as handles, ladders and implements. The tree is perennial and can grow to enormous heights in other climates but here in the UK heights of 6 - 8 metres are usual.
