Medium Chestnut
Mature sweet chestnut trees grow to 35 metres in height and can live for up to 700 years. It is found throughout Britain in woods and copses and the wood is similar to oak but is more lightweight and easier to work. Used for carpentry, joinery and furniture, it's also coppiced in south east England to produce poles.
Chestnuts can be roasted and used in a variety of recipes including stuffing.
